10:30 AM – 12:00 PM  UNDERSTANDING YOUR ASSESSMENT – William B. Mitchell, RMA, MAA (President MAAO) Learn how the assessor values every property in your municipality each year. Bill will take us through a step by step process of the regulations each assessing office must adhere to and how the assessor performs a mass appraisal to meet the Department of Revenue’s requirements. Learn why the assessor performs inspections, why we adhere to USPAP, and learn how to answer those difficult taxpayer questions during abatement season. Learn why the Clerk position is so important to your assessor and why they rely on you to make our assessments more credible.
